Meet the maker

Hi, I'm Carrie — and I make weird, wonderful things.

Layer3D is a one-person studio where every product is printed and finished by hand. No warehouse. No assembly line. Just me, a few printers, and a lot of filament.

How it started

I got my first 3D printer as a "practical" purchase — I told myself I'd use it for household repairs and cable management. That lasted about two weeks before I was printing tiny dragons at 2am.

What started as a hobby turned into an obsession with color, texture, and the weird things you can make when you combine digital design with physical material. Filament paintings were my first "wait, people might actually want this" moment — the way layers of PLA catch light differently depending on angle still gets me every time.

Layer3D officially launched when I ran out of wall space for my own prints and decided someone else should enjoy them too.

How I make things

< 01 > Design

Every product starts with a great design. I print files from talented designers I hold commercial licenses for — so every piece is high quality and fully legit.

< 02 > Print

Prints run on a small fleet of FDM printers. Depending on complexity, a single piece can take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days.

< 03 > Finish

Every piece gets hand-finished and assembled before it leaves my hands. No shortcuts — each item gets a final quality check to make sure it's up to standard.

< 04 > Ship

Orders are packed carefully (I reuse packaging when I can) and shipped with tracking. Every item ships within 2–5 business days.

What I print with

Material choice matters — it affects durability, finish, and how a piece ages. Here's what I use and why.

PLA — My go-to for everything. Crisp detail, wide color range, and great for filament paintings. Not ideal for high-heat environments, but perfect for the decorative and collectible pieces I make.
